As you know, there are all kind of diet fads out there. This is because people want to lose weight quick.

This post is for those people who believe that they don't need to exercise in order to lose weight. As it turns out, they are partly right.

Here's the scoop on how you can slim down by sitting down.

Take a Seat Before You Eat!Weight Loss Blog

By Jennifer R. Scott, About.com Guide to Weight Loss since 2000

Research from the University of Toronto says sitting down may help you slim down. A research group was divided into two groups, one ate at a table set with linens and the other stood by a countertop.

The results? Those who stood ate a whopping 75% more at their next meal!

So, be smart and have a seat for your next meal. While you're at it, set the table with smaller plates; they may help you eat less, too!

Check out Jenn's blog at http://weightloss.about.com/b/

Very cool, the ultimate skinny diet! Until the next time-

How to Loose Weight-Why Exercise Is Important

How to Loose weight: Yes, we cant leave out exercise!

Are you interested in losing weight? If you are, you may be in the process of developing a weight loss plan for yourself. For many individuals, a weight loss plan is a guide that they can follow and one that may help to give them motivation. If this is your first time developing a weight loss plan for yourself, it is important that you place a focus on exercise, as exercise is important component of weight loss.

Although it is nice to hear that exercise is an important part of a weight loss plan, you may be wondering exactly why that is. For your body to lose weight, you must see a reduction in your calorie intake. The amount of calories that you need to reduce, in order to lose weight, will all depend on your current weight and your hopeful weight loss goal. Unfortunately, this is where many individuals automatically assume that they can’t eat three meals a day and many actually just stop eating. This is not only dangerous to your health, but it can be deadly.

Instead of reducing your calorie intake by solely limiting the amount of foods that you eat, you can use exercise to your advantage. By exercising, you burn off calories. These are calories in which your body can use to help you lose weight. If you have a specific weight loss goal, like one that involves losing at least twenty pounds, you may want to focus on fun exercises or workouts, but also ones that burn the most calories. Adding exercise to your weight loss plan is a natural and a healthy way to lose weight.

Since it is important to incorporate to exercise into your weight loss plan, you may be wondering how you can go about doing so. In all honestly, there are an unlimited number of ways that you can go about using exercise to help you lose weight. For starters, you can buy a collection, even just a small collection, of exercise equipment. Exercise equipment can include items such as exercise balls, weights, a treadmill, a stair climber, and so forth. Even if you have limited financial resources, you should be able to find a number of exercise equipment pieces that are within your budget.

Although you should be able to find a number of exercise equipment pieces, including instructional workout DVDs, for affordable prices, you may be looking to limit your weight loss plan investments. If that is the case, you may want to take the time to examine your local gyms or fitness clubs. While some fitness clubs and gyms have relatively high membership fees, you can also find a number of them with affordable membership rates. It is also important to mention that many fitness clubs and gyms are open accommodating hours, often making it easy to exercise before work, after work, or even during a lunch break of yours.

Despite the fact that exercise is often associated with exercise equipment, like a treadmill, that is not all that exercise is about. Exercise can also involve something simple like going for a walk or taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work. If you would prefer to exercise, for free, in your spare time, you may want to consider finding an exercise buddy. This is a person who can workout with you, even if it just involves walking around your local shopping mall. Not only can you make a new friend or strengthen your relationship with one of your current friends, having an exercise buddy or an exercise partners often means that you are more likely to stick with your weight loss plan and achieve your weight loss goals.

As outlined above, it is extremely important that you incorporate exercise into your weight loss plan, especially if you are serious about how to loose weight effectively in a healthy matter. With multiple ways to go about incorporating exercise into your weight loss plan, there really isn’t any excuse for not doing so.

How to Loose Weight Fast-Eat Smart Snacks

As you know, when it comes to weight loss and how to loose weight fast, many professionals recommend eating a number of small meals a day. This is where healthy snacking comes in.

Let's take a look at some of the healthy snack choices we can make that taste great, and are under 100 calories or less.

Smart Snacks with 100 Calories or Less

Lose weight, keep snacking!

By Jennifer R. Scott, About.com

Losing weight doesn't mean you have to say no to snacks. Don't worry about what Mom said: As long as you have your snack two to three hours before a main meal, a moderate snack will not ruin your appetite.

An added benefit of snacking is that it takes the edge off your hunger, preventing you from overeating at mealtime. So let's take a look at some snacks to just "say yes" to!

100 Calorie Snacks

The mother lode of snacking ... 100 calorie snacks are the perfect "bang for your calorie buck": More filling than lower calories snacks and easy to work into most any diet plan. These all have 100 or fewer calories each:

  • 1/2 c. sugar-free Jello and two Tbsp. reduced-fat whipped topping
  • two handfuls of chocolate raisins
  • 1/2 an apple spread with 2 tsp. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. orange juice (Try it frozen!)
  • 1/2 c. fat-free, sugar-free instant or packaged pudding
  • whole wheat toast with 1 tsp. sugar-free spread
  • non-fat yogurt (artificially sweetened)
  • single serving of apple sauce
  • 1 serving of many varieties of Campbell's soups
  • a Fudgesicle
  • 6 saltine crackers with 2 tsp. of peanut butter (My personal favorite!)
  • half a turkey sandwich using reduced-calorie bread, mustard, and veggies
  • mock S'more: reduced-fat Graham cracker, topped with a jumbo marshmallow and drizzled with chocolate syrup

50 Calories

  • handful of animal crackers
  • 1 c. air-popped popcorn with a handful of peanuts
  • 1 c. grapes
  • 1/2 c. fruit cocktail
  • 1/4 c. reduced-fat cottage cheese
25 Calories

Really watching that waistline? These treats count up to only 25 itty bitty calories:

  • 1 small glass of tomato juice
  • 12 pretzels
  • 1 c. air-popped popcorn
  • sugar-free Jello pack

How to Loose Weight Fast-10 Tips for Eating Out

As most of us have found out, eating out frequently and eating all the wrong things can send any weight loss efforts for a day straight down the drain.

If you are one who is looking to loose weight fast and still want to treat yourself by eating out sometimes, here is how you can easily do both.

10 Tips for Eating Out While on a Diet

By Jennifer R. Scott, About.com

Dining out on a diet doesn't have to be cause for panic. With a little planning and preparation, you can make it through eating out without blowing your diet.

  1. Order from the appetizer menu. Hungry? Order a side salad as well ... a good way to ensure you're still eating instead of watching your date finish off his entree after you've polished off that shrimp cocktail.
  2. Keep tabs on that tubini. Endless pasta may be your idea of bliss (Darn near nirvana for yours truly!), but it's a scary prospect to those of us who overeat. Stick with a single entree and don't worry about being a member of the clean plate club. I won't tell your mom if you don't tell mine.
  3. Meat yourself halfway. As tempting as that guy at the booth across from you is making that bucket of fried chicken look, always elect poultry to be prepared the following ways: steamed; poached; roasted; broiled; boiled; grilled; or baked. As for you beef-eaters out there, be sure you choose lean cuts like loin or flank.
  4. Modify the menu. In my neck of the woods, where anything and everything can be batter-dipped and fried, I ask for fried entrees and sides to be boiled, broiled or roasted and I'm rarely turned down.
  5. Beware the buzz words: Cream sauces; butter; oil; au gratin; breaded; Alfredo; battered or batter-dipped and, Mom's favorite topper, gravy. Avoid them all unless you're putting in some extra sessions on the stair climber this week.
  6. Wrap it up, I'll take it! You know you're at a nice restaurant when the server wraps up your food for you at the end of the meal so you don't have to worry about fashioning that tin foil swan for yourself. Keep temptation at bay by asking the server to wrap up half your meal before you start eating.
  7. Don't let take out take over your diet. Take out half of your take out ... and put it into plastic containers ... tuck it away in the fridge. After a long day at work, chances are you won't want to go to the trouble of heating up the rest. (Instant will power!)
  8. Cram for tonight's dinner. Ask your favorite eateries to fax you take out menus and then keep them on-hand. Highlight the healthiest options and choose your entree ahead of time.
  9. Banish buffets. Portion control can become a foreign concept for the best dieter at a buffet. Who can practice portion control when there are new, clean plates beckoning for more? The variety of foods available at buffets is also daunting; studies have shown when we're given more choices we tend to eat more.
  10. Mini meals make your day. Eat smaller meals during the day if dining out tonight, just be sure you don't eat too sparingly so that you're so famished by dinnertime you end up overeating (It was a dark day when I clearly ignored my own #9 tip and visited Golden Corral in a ravenous state with a fellow weight-watcher. The look of horror on her face as I went for round number three is one I won't soon forget!). Have a small, healthful snack in the afternoon to quell hunger.

I like Jennifer's tips. Now we all can eat out without feeling guilty or wreaking our weightloss efforts.

So, enjoy your next meal out!

How to Loose Weight Fast-8 Easy Ways to Lose Weight Without Dieting

Icame across this cool article about eight ways you can lose weight without going on some of those crazy diets that are out there.

So, if you want to learn how to loose weight fast and in a safe way, check it out!

8 Easy Ways to Lose Weight
Lose weight without going on a diet!
By Jennifer R. Scott, About.com

Lose weight without going on a diet? It's not too good to be true. You don't have to follow a strict diet to get the ball rolling; making these easy but effective changes really can help you lose weight.

1. Learn to Read Labels

To lose weight it is essential to pay attention to food labels. Counting calories is impossible without this skill. You should know how to find a food's caloric content and its serving size. Comparing labels among different foods and beverages is crucial for making the healthier choices required to lose weight.
2. Snack Smart

You can help prevent overeating and maintain blood sugar levels by eating something about every three hours. Getting too hungry will backfire on your efforts to eat healthy and practice portion control. Aim for a healthful, satisfying snack, such as an apple and some reduced-fat cheddar cheese. Eating more may seem counterintuitive, but smart snacking will help you lose weight.
3. Eat More Grains and Produce

Whole grains and fruits and veggies do more than provide nutrients that improve your health and reduce disease-risk; they can also help you lose weight. They're naturally low in calories, so you can eat more of them and have less room in your diet for less-than-healthful foods. Plus, the fiber in whole-grain foods and produce will help you feel fuller longer (which helps you control portions and avoid overeating) and as a result, lose weight.

4. Eat Enough, Often Enough

One of the worst ways to lose weight? Meal skipping. Many people think skipping meals is a great way to cut calories, but in the end, they fail to lose weight. You'll be more likely to overeat or even binge (when you finally do eat) if you do not eat regular meals. Plus your body may go into "starvation mode" if don't eat enough, causing you to maintain (or even gain) rather than lose weight!
5. Drink Plenty of Water

Water helps you lose weight in several ways: If you tend to have a problem with "water weight," drinking more water can help alleviate bloating. Replacing high-cal drinks such as soda with water cuts hundreds of calories. You shouldn't wait until you're feeling thirsty to drink water; thirst can be mistaken for hunger, causing you to overeat. Proper hydration improves your sense of well-being, which will keep up your motivation to lose weight.
6. Get Moving

It is virtually impossible to lose weight and keep it off without exercising regularly. Start out today by taking a brisk walk or riding a bike. Work your way up from 10 minutes to 30-40 minutes a day, most days a week, and you could reap health benefits and weight loss results in a matter of weeks. Plus, exercise boosts your metabolism, making it even easier to lose weight.
7. Practice Portion Control

Measuring food may seem like a drudgery, but it will prove invaluable in your efforts to lose weight. Start out by comparing a measured standard serving of foods to your typical helping. You may find you usually consume two or even three times the recommended serving. In time you will reprogram your brain to eyeball portion sizes, a key skill for losing weight.
8. Write it Down

What's the first thing I think anyone who wants to lose weight should do? Keep a food diary. All you have to do is jot down what, when, and how much you eat in a notebook, or you can do it online at a Web site like Calorie Count Plus. A food diary will give you a clear picture of your current eating habits so you can identify the changes you need to make to lose weight.

How to loose weight fast-how to keep your waistline and budet in check

You may be wondering how to loose weight fast yet still stick to reasonable budget. As it turns out, you can lose weight effectively and in a timely manner without spending a ton of money and busting your budget.

Here is how Jennifer Scott says it can be done:

How to Lose Weight on a Budget

Keep your waistline and your budget in check.

By Jennifer R. Scott

udget living is on everyone's mind these days. The good news is, losing weight doesn't have to mean spending more money. In fact, as you make your waistline shrink, you may make your wallet fatter! Here are some easy ways to lose weight on a budget:

  1. Eat at home more.

The typical American spends hundreds of dollars a month eating out. You will do your budget and your waistline a big favor by eating at home more often. By the time you eat out a few times in a week, you will have spent enough money to buy the ingredients for multiple meals.

What's that got to do with losing weight? When you prepare your own food, you are in complete control of preparation method, added fats, extra calories, and portion size. Plus, you won't try to "get your money's worth" by eating a too-large portion or making another trip to a buffet... not to mention that you can't be tempted by a dessert menu at home!

More: Cooking Methods: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

  2. Clip coupons.

The best way to save money on groceries? Coupons! Been thinking of trying a new diet-friendly product? Manufacturers often give coupons to generate interest in them. Coupon-clipping for your everyday purchases can really add up, especially if you locate a store that doubles or triples coupons.

I have started coupon-clipping almost religiously; in fact, I rarely buy anything that I don't have a coupon for unless it's a staple (e.g. produce, dairy, etc.). On a recent triple coupon day, I purchased $75 of items for less than $30!

More: 50 Foods to Stock Up On

  3. Consider canned.

Canned vegetables are just as nutritious as frozen ones and can be much more budget-friendly. Case in point: I recently found I could buy a large can of store brand whole kernel corn and get the same number of servings I'd been getting in my frozen single-serving multipack. The price difference? The can was on sale for 39 cents and the frozen multipack was $2.98. The flavor was a little different, but since I often use it in recipes, it is just fine.

    More: Add Flavor without Fat

  4. Buy store brands.

This may require a little trial and error; the quality of store brand products varies greatly. I have had the best luck with store brands of canned goods, frozen vegetables, and pasta. Store brand crackers and cookies have usually left me disappointed.

Trying a food for the first time? Invest as little as possible by buying the smallest size instead of those tempting warehouse-size packages -- they aren't a better value if they sit in the pantry uneaten. Another lesson I've learned? Never buy multiples of a new product until you've tried it!

  5. Try exercise videos for free at the library.

I find new exercise videos and DVDs and diet books on almost every visit to the library. You can even request or reserve specific videos you're interested in. If you find you check out the same video several times, you know purchasing your own copy would be a wise investment.

More: Before You Buy Exercise Videos

  6. Walk more!

It's a great time to start walking. If you live close enough to walk to stores or errands, consider how much money you'll save on gas! Start out by walking about 10 minutes at a time (e.g., the nearest store and back) before trying an hour-long trek across the neighborhood!

More: Start Walking for Weight Loss Today

  7. Bulk up with beans.

Beans are a cost-effective, low-fat, and nutritous way of adding additional protein and fiber to your meals, both of which will help you feel fuller longer to prevent overeating. Look for dishes that use beans as a main ingredient or add them to foods you already enjoy.
  8. Snack smarter.

Fight the afternoon munchies by taking your own snacks from home rather than hitting the vending machine. It's much more expensive to buy individual snacks from the machines than to portion out servings from full-size packages into zipper bags. And you can buy a six-pack of diet soda by the time you purchase two or three from the machine.

    More: Smart On-the-Go Snacks

  9. Tap into tap water.

Invest in a water filter for your tap or refrigerator. Then, swear off those little bottles of water; when you're really penny-pinching, buying water is an added cost that is easy to trim.

Buy a safe, reusable water container that you can fill up at home to take with you to work, or when you're exercising or running errands. You'll be doing right by your budget and you won't add more used plastic bottles to the earth.

    More: H2... Oh!

  10. Prepare for portion control.

Sure, those cute little "100 calorie packages" are handy and provide instant portion control. But if you're just as concerned about your bottom line as, well, the size of your bottom, they just aren't worth it!

Instead, buy the full size of your favorite smart snacks when they're on sale. Then, read the food label to find out what a serving size is, and create your own instant-will-power packages by putting servings in reusable containers. You'll get many more servings for the price as compared to pre-packaged individual servings.
